2008 = RMBS, 2025 = AIBS*

*Artificial Intelligence-Backed Securities (also known as AI-BS!)

Sam Altman just published a short blog titled “Abundant Intelligence”.

Anyone who read our latest piece titled “Circularity” would quickly come to the conclusion that all we got so far is “Abundant Stupidity”.

Altman lays out his vision that he wants “to create a factory that can produce a gigawatt of new AI infrastructure every week”. He finishes his blog like this:

“Later this year, we’ll talk about how we are financing it; given how increasing compute is the literal key to increasing revenue, we have some interesting new ideas”.

Ohhhhhhh!!!! They have some “interesting new ideas” to finance the AI buildout?!

As if the Coreweave / Stargate / Oracle / Nvidia Circularity wasn’t imaginative enough?

I can’t wait to see what they next come up with “later this year”!!!

Fear not. This parody publication shall not let its faithful readers wait in suspense until “later this year”, so we will submit our own proposal.

‘Member RMBS from back in the ancient days of the GFC?

RMBS stands for “Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities”. It was a fine idea until we started tranching it, assigning inflated ratings to the tranches and selling them on to the Germans as AAA paper.

I think we need an instrument that glorifies the current mania in its entirety, an instrument that gives justice to how stupid this all is, an instrument that will earn its place in Wikipedia. Introducing:

• AIBS™️ = Artificial Intelligence-Backed Securities*

• *it also conveniently stands for “Artificial Intelligence Bull Sh*t”

I can’t wait when, sometime in the near future, Goldman Sachs starts making a market for different tranches of AIBS, then a few years later we get a film titled “The Big Short - Part 2” which will chronicle how it all went spectacularly wrong, how some vagabond speculators profited handsomely by the subsequent AI Crash and how a shrub coined the term AIBS™️ .

Now THAT would be proper funny.
