Window Years PP lost Annualized inflation

1933 → 1971 38 ~68% ~3.05%

1971 → 2026 55 ~88% ~3.9%

Yeah that Gold Standard really did a great job. Also was a disaster 1929-1933. OPEC sets prices starting in1973. Either the Gov't has Fiscal discipline or it does not.

Ah now come on, the Fed hiking with the current inflation and growth/labour market backdrop is not even close to Greenspan post 1987 massive non sequitur. You can argue the toss on number of hikes but it seems v unlikely rates are falling.

The debasement trade is retail facing furu nonsense, Dylan Grice wrote about it over 10yrs ago it’s not new it is what it is and it’s not driving precious metals now or then.

But if you think the rates market is wrong receive 1y1y etc nothing to do with who warsh has in de basement.

I learned a lot about how things work and the system during my first year in the tbill pit in 1987.

A really great trader Dixi made a million scalping the open that day, we were having a smoke and he looked at me and said “the fed wont let it fail ever again”. Dude was a legend on the floor. Didn’t hurt that he was married to the daughter of the Armour bacon family.

The crash was my first 6 figure day. I joke i should have just walked over to the spx pit and plunked a 100k down and just rolled it for the next 40 years.
